Our Achievements

Youth Policy Development and Support

Bargad has played a pivotal role in shaping youth policy development in Pakistan by providing technical assistance to provincial governments of Balochistan, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Azad Jammu and Kashir and Gilgit Baltistan to formulate their provincial youth policies resulting in approval of Punjab Youth Policy in 2012, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Policy in 2016, Sindh Youth Policy in 2018.
Bargad facilitated an inclusive consultative process to ensure diverse perspectives in policymaking engaging with 22,000 individuals, including 782 government, private, and civil society organizations.

Approval of provincial youth policies lead to youth quotas in local government, increased budget allocations, and recognition of youth health rights.

Other Achievements

Minority Quotas

Bargad’s contributed in approval of 2% higher education quota for minorities notified in 2020. Bargad has been instrumental in implementing this quota working with 30+ universities and Vice Chancellors in Punjab to facilitate admissions, scholarships, and policy execution. From 2020 to 2024, 621 minority students enrolled due to its advocacy efforts. Bargad provided technical assistance to youth to secure scholarships worth PKR 7 million to support their education.

Employment and Entrepreneurship

Bargad has empowered disadvantaged youth and women by providing toolkits, business training, and TOTs, establishing and supporting 300+ supply chains/ enterprises for marginalized communities and securing 700+ jobs. Its efforts promote economic inclusion, self-sufficiency, and sustainable livelihoods.

Networks

Bargad is part of Women Action Forum (WAF), Young Omang, Right Here Right Now, Punjab Climate Education Network, and Commonwealth Alliance of Youth Workers’ Associations (CAYWA), Commonwealth Asia Youth Alliance, advocating for youth empowerment and social change. It has also established the Green for White Network, Bargad Volunteer Network and National Youth Volunteer Network, engaging 3,500+ volunteers across Pakistan

Psycho-Social Support

Bargad provides psychosocial support to disadvantaged communities and religious minorities by training community leaders and union council gatekeepers as first responders in under-privileged areas. This initiative strengthens local capacity to address social tensions and trauma, ensuring community resilience. Bargad has also developed a localized manual to enhance effective interventions and support systems. 50 relevant persons have been trained so far.

Vice Chancellors’ Conferences

Bargad has been organizing Vice Chancellors’ Conferences to address key issues like minority quotas, student societies, youth policies, climate action, and academic governance. These forums foster inclusive education, policy reforms, and youth empowerment across Pakistan’s campuses.

Bargad’s Vice Chancellors’ Conferences have engaged over 100 Vice Chancellors and hundreds of stakeholders, including policymakers, academicians, and civil society leaders, to drive inclusive education, policy reforms, and youth empowerment.
